NEW LEADERSHIP DELIVERING RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY
Delano Scaife a Porter County resident has resided in Indiana' 1st Congressional District for over a decade. He has seen the lack of leadership and involvement with the community from previous incumbent. Delano decided to make it his life’s endless mission to make a positive impact by helping, advocating for, and engaging with the residents of Northwest Indiana. Delano’s goal is to help create and implement legislation that promotes a better quality of life for Hoosiers in this great State of Indiana and the nation.
Delano Scaife is a proud father and husband, who has been with the love of his life Beverly for 10 years and married for 3 and half years. In their union they have 3 beautiful daughters. Delano is currently employed as a Deputy Sheriff for the Lake County Sheriff’s Department. He was sworn in as a Deputy Sheriff to the Lake County Sheriff’s Department in November of 2011. About 4 months later, he was involved in a terrible hit and run incident which claimed the life of one of his coworkers, leaving Delano and two of his coworkers severely injured. Delano was excused from his duties as a Deputy Sheriff as well as his academic studies at Purdue University Calumet for a couple of semesters. The horrific accident, going through recovery and therapy to help regain the functionality of his upper left extremity was a difficult moment in his life. It seemed as if his life would never be the same but knowing that God is faithful and powerful, God kept Delano’s faith strong. Delano was charged to work harder like never before in all aspects of his life to restore and achieve his goals with his health, academics, and his life mission touching lives. Facing a near death experience provided him even more focus on various ways to positively impact Indiana for the better.
Knowing the impact of grassroots, Delano became involved in social issues pertaining to life and the equality of life. In addition, he joined various groups including the Lake County Right to Life, Working Families United for Tradition Values, The Share Group, Lake County Young Democrats, F.O.P. Association Chris Anton Lodge #125, and Planted Seed Ministries Inc. Delano’s work ethics afforded him opportunities to obtained leadership roles within these organizations as board member, treasurer, vice president, chairmen interim, and president.
Delano is a Purdue Alumni, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with a concentration in Marketing. He is also a DePaul Alumni from DePaul University where he received a Master of Public Administration degree in June of 2018. From his educational background and community involvement, Delano was selected to be a Mayoral Fellow for the City of Chicago in the summer of 2017. Delano has attended meetings where he has met influential people such as various religious leaders, politicians, and community leaders with whom he shared ideas. Working side by side with powerful leaders, learning from them, listening to their advice, watching and assisting them with their endeavors has improved Delano’s leadership skills.
