"Born into a proud family that has been involved in public service for as long as I can remember. I want to work for you. Together we need to create more living wage jobs, improve our schools, ensure safer communities, and make economic development, a top priority with focus on the strengthening Northwest Indiana's economy. With nearly a decade of grassroots work, a few years of governmental experience, and receiving a master's degree for Public Administration from DePaul University enables me to know what it takes to find solutions, navigate complicated governmental agencies, and get things done."
LIST OF ISSUES
As Congressman, I vow to make practical financial decision-making. Dealing with the State's budget is vital to the financial health of this great State of Indiana which we call "Home". Making smart budgetary appropriations will help ensure State programs and operations that Hoosiers dearly need. Creating efficient fiscal reforms, allows the nation to evaluate itself to identify its financial positioning and set priorities for appropriation of funding to areas that strive to facilitate productivity, foster efficient transportation, provide quality education, create safer neighborhoods and reduce crime rates. Having a strong financial position will ensure that Indiana provides Hoosiers with the continual quality of public safety and welfare.
I'm a strong advocate for making the Middle Class stronger, and job creation with tax incentives for business owners. The economy thrives on a demand-based market, not a supply-based market. I believe that making Indiana Labor Unions Workforce stronger will foster productivity and create more living wage income jobs for Hoosiers. Having a moral compass to defend religious liberties, being a pro-family advocate, and liberate the oppressed makes me a strong leader to fight for what is right. I support the 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution for all law-abiding Hoosiers. Due to the heinous acts of others having effective screenings, background checks, and harsher penalties for straw purchasers and gun traffickers, and drafting sensible legislature to protect the public from terrorists will aid to make a safer Indiana. Human life is a precious gift from God, it is important to respect the sanctity of life.
Education is one of the most powerful tools used to cultivate a society. Having a quality education system positively impacts a community. I'm a strong supporter of teachers, they set the foundation for the development of innovation within our youth. Supporting schools with resources they need to maintain a high standard is vital. Ensuring support for our teachers will help improve the overall quality of education, this will encourage good teachers within the school corporations to remain. My priority will be to foster quality education to all Hoosiers within all stages of their academic career.
The rising cost of Health Care places a burden on Hoosiers. As Congressman, I will fight to maintain a quality health care system at a lower cost on the taxpayers. By requiring certain procedural mandates, making pharmaceutical companies more transparent, and incentivizing the use generic drugs when medicinal patents expired will help bring down the cost of health care to Hoosiers.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT/PUBLIC INVESTMENT
"Economic development creates conditions for economic growth and improves quality of life by expanding the capabilities of individuals, firms, and communities to maximize the use of their talents and skills which support innovation, lower transaction costs, and responsibly produce and trade valuable goods and services". Each village, town, township, and city contribute to Indiana’s economy financially through property tax and by providing memorable services, which draws locals and tourists to Indiana. Hoosier neighborhoods need adequate public services and infrastructure to thrive, by securing the welfare of each community and creating effective incentives to attract different businesses which generate jobs and revenue for these communities. Investing in infrastructure, attracting businesses, having parks and recreations, ensuring a quality education system, and safer neighborhoods will increase property value and maintain a social benefit.
Public safety ensures the protection and prevention of events that could harm or endanger the safety and well-being of the general public. To ensure safety and welfare to Hoosiers, Indiana must have effective police/law enforcement departments which serves and protects its residents while deterring criminal activity. Supporting fire departments to service Hoosiers through fire protection and hazard prevention protocols, and a trained EMT workforce to stabilize traumatic injuries and to respond quickly to emergency situations and provide adequate infrastructure to ensure safer roads. Supporting the public safety workforce with resources it needs aids their effort in keeping the Hoosier communities safe, investments in training and technology to provide these public departments with vital tools they need will improve trust with the communities they serve.
As Congressman, it is my duty to create an effective government. Understanding the implications that government can cause to the market by imposing certain taxes creates a deadweight loss to both Hoosiers and commerce. I want to protect Hoosiers' hard-earned tax dollars, with the rising cost of living expenses it is not fair for a Hoosier to sacrifice long hours at work to make a living for their family and miss precious moments with their family. Also, with the rising price of medication and health care services the elderly are faced with astronomical health expenses that sometimes exceed their fixed income. I want to support the elderly by proposing tax benefits to help keep disposable income in their pockets.
